Did you ever ask yourself if God could really be talking to you in the bible?
The
answer is YES He is!! The scriptures are a "living word". When Jesus
spoke to people 2,000 years ago, he was also speaking to us today.
For instance let's take the reading from Matthew...
Matthew 25:34-40
34
Then the king will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are
blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the
foundation of the world.
35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me,
36 naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.'
37 Then the righteous will answer him and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?
38 When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?
39 When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?'
40
And the king will say to them in reply, 'Amen, I say to you, whatever
you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.'
(1) After reading the above from the gospel of Matthew, please click on "Matthew 25 song" and "The Least of These" (on upper the right). After watching BOTH of these videos please post a comment on how God
is speaking to YOU today. Do you know anyone that may be a "least of
these"? Where do you see someone in need in your world today? How can
you help?...Maybe as part of your Power of One Project or maybe in your
everyday life? (Please post your answers to these questions using your #)
(2) We
also hear the Word of God at mass. Since you are preparing for
Confirmation, I hope that you attend mass on a regular basis (remember
the session on Church).
God speaks to us during the Liturgy of the
Word (readings from the bible). When you go to mass this week, please
listen very carefully to the readings and Father's sermon. Post your reflection on one of the readings or Father's sermon. What was the message that you heard from God? How will you use that message in your life?
You only have to post your reflection for one
Sunday. It is important that you attend mass and post your reflection
before our next in-person session.
(3) Click on "No 'gift' is too small when blessed by Jesus" (on upper right of page)and
watch the video reflection. Remember that God has given you a gift.
Take that gift to Jesus and ask him to bless it and help you to use your
gifts/talents to help others (maybe in your project). Maybe you have a
"broken-ness" that can be given to Jesus...blessed... and used to help
others.
For the final part of this session, please open your bible to the book of Matthew and find a passage that "speaks to you". Please post the chapter number and the number of the verses that you chose. Then post a short reflection on what it means to you. If you have questions on how to do this, ask your parent or a friend to help you or email me at powerofone2010@yahoo.com
